Best known for their coppery spots that look like taillights, the head and tail light tetra (aka beacon fish) is a peaceful schooling fish that hails from freshwater rivers and streams in South America. This tetra species does not need a large tank. They do, however, need plenty of open swimming space and subdued mood lighting to keep them content.
Head-and-tail light Tetra is a peaceful, social fish best kept in groups of six or more. Compatible tank mates include small, gentle species like tetras, guppies, and rasboras. It is important to avoid housing them with large or aggressive fish that could cause stress or injury.
