Aquasonic Paragone is an Australian-made, anti-parasitic tablet medication used to treat external parasite infestations in freshwater, tropical, and fish-only marine aquarium fish.
What It Treats
- Fish Lice (Argulus species)
- Gill Flukes / Skin Flukes (Ergasilus species)
- Anchor Worms (Lernaea species)
- Active Ingredient: Contains Trichlorfon (32mg per tablet).
Dosage and Application
- Standard Freshwater Dose: Use 1 tablet per 40 litres of water and repeat the dose 7 days later.
- Anchor Worms: Repeat treatments at 5-day intervals until all adults are killed (or 12-day intervals in cold water).
- Marine Tanks (Fish-only): Reduce the dose rate to 1 tablet per 160 litres because the active constituents are more toxic at higher pH levels.
- Water Conditions: Maintain a water temperature of around 25°C and a pH between 6.0 and 7.0 during treatment.
- Filtration: Remove activated carbon from your filter system so it does not absorb or reduce the effectiveness of the medication.
Important Precautions
- Sensitive Fish: May cause stress or adverse reactions in sensitive species such as Plecostomus, Bristlenose catfish, and Silver Dollars (Metynnis).
- Invertebrates: Not safe for reef tanks or marine invertebrates; remove invertebrates and wait at least 5 days post-treatment before returning them.
- Safety: Do not use on fish intended for human consumption.
Available Sizes
- Pack Sizes: Commonly available in 25-tablet, 100-tablet, and 300-tablet packs.
