Blue eye cichlid - Cryptoheros spilurus

The blue eye cichlid is a central American cichlid. It is easy to keep able to reach between 10- 8cm. This fish is not as aggressive as some other larger cichlids and will eat nearly all types of food.

Blue Eye Cichlids exhibit a more tranquil temperament than many other cichlid species. They thrive alongside similarly sized fish like Firemouths, Convicts, and Swordtails. 

Ensuring ample tank space and sufficient hiding spots helps reduce territorial behavior and promotes a balanced aquatic environment.

Feeding

Blue Eye Cichlids, being omnivorous, benefit from a diverse diet to maintain peak health. Their primary nutrition should consist of premium cichlid pellets or flakes. Enhance their meals with occasional live or frozen options such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. Including blanched vegetables like spinach or zucchini supports a balanced diet and contributes to vibrant coloration.
