can grow from about 1 inch to about 2.5 inches
Tank Setup
Smudge Spotted Cory Catfish flourish in a 60-liter aquarium with a soft sand substrate. Optimal water conditions include a pH between 6.0 and 7.5 and temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C. Incorporate plants and ample hiding places, and utilize gentle filtration to safeguard their sensitive barbells.
Ideal Tank Mates
Smudge Spotted Cory thrive alongside peaceful species such as tetras or dwarf cichlids and should be kept in groups of six or more. Small dwarf shrimp are not recommended, as they may become prey, whereas larger shrimp can coexist safely. Maintaining a tranquil community environment supports their natural schooling behaviour.
Feeding
Smudge Spotted Cory Catfish thrive on an omnivorous diet, readily consuming sinking pellets, frozen bloodworms, and live daphnia. Feed them once or twice daily, making sure the food settles on the tank floor. A diverse diet enhances their distinctive violet coloration, promoting their overall health and vibrancy.
