Rummynose tetra - Hemigrammus rhodostomus

The rummy-nose tetra is a tropical freshwater characin fish which is one of the most popular choice among fishkeepers. They are peaceful small tetras belonging to the same genus, the maximum size can get is 5 cm long on average . This fish is good tank mate and is a long established favourite among tropical fishkeepers.

Tank Mates 

These peaceful schooling fish should be kept in groups of at least 8-10 to encourage natural behaviour and reduce stress. They are compatible with other non-aggressive species such as rasboras, Corydoras catfish, dwarf gouramis, and other small tetras. Avoid housing them with larger or aggressive species that may intimidate them.

Feeding 

Rummy Nose Tetras are omnivores and thrive on a varied diet. Offer high-quality flakes or micro pellets as their staple food, supplemented with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. Including plant-based foods, such as spirulina flakes or blanched vegetables, ensures balanced nutrition. Feed them 2-3 times daily in small portions.

With proper care, Rummy Nose Tetras can live up to 5-6 years, providing a long-lasting display of beauty and activity in your aquarium.
