The Trochus Snail is a well sought-after addition by large amounts of marine aquarium owners. It is extremely easy to look after and will work tirelessly to clean up your tank and rid it of algae.

Tank Recommendations

A single Trochus Snail can be maintained per 10 litres of aquarium water. Provide ample hiding spots and ample space for grazing. Access to live rock is crucial for their nutrition and well-being. Maintain calcium levels between 350-450 ppm to support healthy shell development. Acclimate this species gradually using the drip method over a minimum of two hours to ensure a smooth transition into your tank.

Suitable Tank Buddies

Trochus Snails are remarkably gentle and do not harm other invertebrates or live corals. This makes them compatible with a broad range of tank inhabitants, provided appropriate care and consideration are applied.

Usually Compatible

Clownfish, Cardinals, Damsels, and Dragonets typically ignore Trochus Snails, while Tangs and Scorpionfish pose no threat to them. These snails can coexist with others of their kind, provided the tank size is adequate.

Feeding

Trochus Snails are omnivores that feed naturally on diatoms, cyanobacteria, and algae found on live rock within the tank. They also explore the substrate and can graze on the aquarium glass. When natural food sources are insufficient, dried nori seaweed can be provided as a dietary supplement. Occasionally, they will consume hair algae as well.
